Monarch Plus is a prepaid debit account, placed directly on your University ID Card, designed for any student, faculty, or staff member of the С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Community.
Your Monarch Plus account provides the flexibility and convenience of a debit card to use at any of our on or off campus locations.

Monarch Plus Purchase Guidelines
Monarch Plus/Monarch Plus Cards may not be used to pay volunteers, suppliers, independent contractors, guest speakers, consultants, honorariums, students, staff, or stipends for goods or services at any time. This includes times when a student or staff member provides service with something like student move in or tutoring, etc. There are a number of reasons for this, but the most important is IRS compliance.
Any payments to students for services must go through the .
There are times when it could be appropriate to use the Monarch card as an incentive such as a raffle prize for participating in a survey or a similar situation. In cases where it is appropriate, the card center will need a description of the situation and the Names and UIN’s on an Excel Spreadsheet of the recipient to load the funds onto the card and provide the information to payroll to add to earnings, as applicable. The Card Center will no longer provide cards that are not associated with a UIN. Ìý
When departmental funds are used to load balances onto a card, Ledgers 3, 4, 5, and 6 are the only sources of funds that can be used in order for us to stay in compliance with the Commonwealth.
If you are a department requesting to fund a student(s) card(s) as an award for participating in a survey, we will need to follow the guidelines above.

The Monarch Plus account is on your University ID Card, and works like an electronic checking account.
Whenever you make a purchase, your card is swiped through the card reader and the purchase amount is automatically deducted from the balance in your prepaid account.
- Your balance will display on the reader or be printed on your receipt.
- The cashier ends each transaction by checking your balance for you.
- You can also manage your account or come in to the Card Center for a report.
Making a Deposit
When you're running low at any time during the semester, you may add money to your account in a variety of ways:

- In person at the Card Center: We accept checks, money orders, travelers checks, credit/debit cards, Apple and/or Google pay.
- Mail a check using the student's UIN and name to the following address:

NOTE: For security reasons we DO NOT take transactions over the phone.
Parents may to their child's Monarch Plus account using their child's С»ÆƬÊÓƵ student UIN.
If you are leaving the University, you can request a refund by going to the Card Center and filling out a refund request form. See Refunds for more information on how to request a refund on your account.
