Eric Schussler, PhD, has been appointed as the new co-director of the PhD in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation (KR) program, joining Dr. Patrick Wilson in leading the program toward continued excellence. Dr. Schussler, a faculty member in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences since 2016, brings extensive experience and expertise to this role.

Dr. Schussler holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master’s degree in physical therapy from Gannon University, as well as a PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University. His research focuses on the impacts of concussive and sub-concussive events on athlete health and performance, with a particular interest in improving training techniques for coaches to reduce injury risk during tackling.

In his new role as co-director, Dr. Schussler will be involved in further developing recruitment strategies and evaluating curricular programming to ensure the KR program continues to meet the evolving needs of the field while maintaining its alignment with the discipline’s core principles.

The appointment reflects the Ellmer College of Health Sciences’ commitment to advancing research and education in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation. The college is eager to see the continued growth of the program under Dr. Schussler’s leadership and the impact it will have on students and the field.
