The С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Alumni Association (С»ÆƬÊÓƵAA) has announced the Distinguished Alumni Class of 2024. They will be recognized at the 15th annual Alumni Honors Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Hilton Norfolk The Main.
This year’s honorees are:
- Kay Kemper ’80, Strome College of Business and rector of the 2020 С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Board of Visitors
- Sarah Bishop ’75, College of Arts & Letters
- Marialena Murphy ’01, College of Health Sciences
The honorees join nearly 150 distinguished alumni selected since 1962, recognized for outstanding contributions to their professions and communities.
Kemper, founder and former president of Kemper Consulting, is a recognized leader in Virginia government relations. She was the first female vice president of С»ÆƬÊÓƵ and has served as a member of the С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Board of Visitors – holding leadership positions of rector of the board and chair of several committees.
Bishop, a social worker, has dedicated more than two decades toward facilitating solutions to complex community problems. She currently serves as manager of special projects at The Up Center, the region’s largest nonprofit mental health agency. Previously, she worked at United Way where she developed and launched United for Children, a regional collective impact initiative.
Murphy is chief nursing officer at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, leading 4,360 patient care staff.
With more than 33 years of clinical and leadership experience, she has held nurse executive roles in various healthcare settings.
